Notes: I chose this pairing for the unrequited love / pining prompt because I fell so unexpectedly in love with them after watching the series recently, especially after the second viewing. These two struck up an unlikely friendship despite their tragic circumstances as man, creature and nature threatened to tear them apart, but they remained steadfast in their loyalty to each other even when they were doomed never to share words or gazes again.

There's no definitive proof that Goodsir and Lady Silence were in love; then again, does there need to be? It's easy to assume that Goodsir likely pined after Silna after their parting, his dedication toward her is one of the more heartwarming pinpoints of light in this show, and it's almost just as easy to assume that Silna reciprocated his feelings, given her state when she was reunited with Goodsir for the final time. These two for me are the epitome of unrequited: they were never given the time required to explore or act on their feelings, but it does not make those feelings any less real or poignant.

For this playlist, I tried to blend a mix of bleak and hopeful songs. Most of them, for me, are from Goodsir's point of view.
The music is a mix of metal and rock, the former symbolizing the bitter hopelessness of their situation, especially Goodsir's,
and the latter highlighting the fleeting, quiet moments between them, sweet and caring and brave, much like Goodsir himself.

A Deadly Game

Alec isn't exactly human. He's a genetically enhanced killing machine, trained to do anything and everything it takes to complete an assignment. Fortunately for Alec, he managed to break out of the secret government facility he was raised in. Unfortunately for Alec, he knows very little about the actual world he ended up in, populated with humans he can blend in with but can never truly belong to. Despite the purpose he was bred for, all Alec has ever really wanted is to love and be loved. Real love, not the fabricated kind that comes from pleasuring the wealthy and the powerful for information.

Ames isn't human either, although his skill set and destiny are vastly different from Alec's own. Alec knows he's dangerous, knows he's putting his own life and all the lives of those he has grown to care for on the line simply by desiring this man, crawling back to him no matter the pain and no matter the consequence. Ames isn't a man to be toyed with and he especially isn't a man easy to love. His ideals and strengths are far higher and superior to Alec's own, his hands meant to pummel and bruise, his mouth made to punish and damn with just one word, his agenda sworn to disintegrate all Alec holds dear.

Alec falls anyway, blind and careless and lust-driven. He pushes beyond all physical and emotional limits, searching for his one life-affirming desire. He knows how he feels and doesn't care if his feelings are returned, or if there is only one possible conclusion to the madness of his heart. It's all just fun and games and what Alec doesn't know won't hurt him, right?

Except... Ames will break him.
