Falling
Heroes is my go-to for the Falling prompt, given Peter Petrelli is a perfect personification of it both physically and emotionally in the first season of the show. So here are a couple Peter & Nathan vids emphasizing this prompt.

Falling is present in this vid from start to end: as Peter falls apart emotionally, as an overload of powers threatens to rip him and New York City apart, as his relationship with his brother falls apart and as he repeatedly falls in his efforts to fly. Through it all, however, Peter and Nathan continue to save each other and catch each other as they fall both in a physical and emotional context. The use of Imogen Heap's 'Hide and Seek' is also a perfect choice, given it emphasizes the struggle of the brothers and how they hide from though inevitably find one another in the end.

This video shows Peter's efforts to prove himself and be someone even a fraction as important as his big brother. He refuses to be dissuaded by Nathan in his attempts to fly and later in his duty to save the cheerleader and then the world, even at the cost of his own life. Nathan also cannot be dissuaded from attempting to protect Peter from himself and those set to use and abuse him. Even though Nathan catches Peter each time he falls, they eventually fall far past any attempts at reconciliation.
Political Animals is a great example of the Falling prompt, given the series seems to me to be half about TJ Hammond falling to pieces over different time periods of his life due to pressure, rejection, alcohol, drugs and depression. It's a lot of fun watching TJ struggle to pull himself together and prove himself while he inevitably drags the rest of his family down right along with him. So here are some video recs centering around TJ struggling and ultimately falling apart.

It's so devastating how TJ feels he needs to turn to alcohol and drugs just to keep himself relatively sane and this video perfectly encapsulates that. We see TJ go through a wide array of emotions: anger, shock, anxiety, depression, hopelessness, rejection and even happiness. His parents always reach him a step too late, unable to catch him before he plummets to the Earth and yet able to coax him back to life to go through it all over again. What a tragic character.

This video is so wonderfully, tragically TJ from the lyrics to the piano to the black and white video emphasizing all the joy having been sucked out of his life. From the "see my dreams all die" to the "this house no longer feels like home" to the "I should've known better, now it hurts much more," you can really feel TJ Hammond ripping open at the seams. The scenes and dialogue that were chosen all serve to paint a perfect portrait of him also, really bringing his character arc full circle.

This video focuses more on the relationship between TJ and his family and the hardships he's had to face because of their decisions and their highly public lives constantly in the spotlight. The transitions are amazing: frames swiping up to reveal others, staticky/blurred frames, etc., all of which symbolize how TJ's life is teetering out of control. The song also fits TJ really well since it emphasizes that he's the only one not playing into the charade of being in a perfect family and while everyone else can fake it, he can't. TJ is, in effect, falling apart from the pressures his family and society have always forced upon him. I also love, however, how this video shows just how much his family care about him.

This is such a beautifully tragic look into Tony Stark falling apart and kept under by homelessness, alcoholism and malnutrition.
Steve finds him in this state, suffering from hypothermia and barely clinging to life, and vows to help him even though a part of
him knows that it's too late. He reflects on how all his previous efforts have led to nothing given Tony's lost his will to
fight, for their relationship and for himself. Steve is desperate and fearful and resentful and even numb, trying to let Tony go
and yet falling right along with him unless he makes the decision not to.
The Worst (Best) Days by Curupia
Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn), Roman/Victor
This is the work that really sucked me into Roman/Victor and their dynamic, of just how much Roman needs Victor because of how much Victor does understand him and his needs and is willing to give them to Roman in his own way. Victor is so beautifully intimate and tender as he eases Roman out of the darkness of his own head, then the fic becomes amazingly hot as compassion dissolves into passion and lust. Roman accepts what Victor is willing to give, given he's not in the right frame of mind to take what he needs as he always does, and in turn Victor takes what he wants as his reward, placing them deliciously on almost equal footing. Roman is entirely at Victor's mercy here, Victor the only thing keeping him from falling apart entirely, and it's wonderfully refreshing. It's even more enticing when Victor succeeds in pulling Roman out of his dissociative state. Read this and you will worship them, guaranteed.
Dracula Untold - This Life and the Next by Vredina Romashka [Video]
Dracula Untold, Vlad/Mirena
Warnings: Canonical Character Death, Impalement, Brief Self-Immolation
This video shows how Vlad and Mirena's love dissolves around them despite their efforts to hold onto each other. I love how Mirena doesn't shy away from Vlad's torment and darkness, showing her true devotion to him. Even while he is falling apart in his efforts to save her, their son and their kingdom, she remains a constant comforting presence, reminding Vlad of exactly what he fights for. Also present is probably the most iconic and heartbreaking scene of the film: Mirena's plummet to her death and Vlad's ensuing devastation.

This is a beautiful portrayal of how Juan falls apart throughout the course of the series due to ill luck and poor decisions.
His father, Rodrigo, is the only member of his family who remains steadfastly by his side, comforting him when thoughts of
suicide plague him and grieving him after his death. This video highlights Juan's happy early days and his growing antagonism and disillusionment with life as it progresses, showing him as the tragic character he is.

This is a great insight into Hastings' pre-Poirot war years, where was he was in charge of a group of men and despite being
injured, inflicted further pain upon himself to protect them. Poirot finds out about Hastings' bravery during an unfortunate
recurrence of this old leg injury, just after Hastings mistakenly believes he has saved Poirot from a bullet, takes care of him
through his ptsd and agonizing pain, and reassures him that he is no burden and how proud he is of Hastings. I just love stories showing Poirot's true affection for Hastings, since their connection is my favorite part of Agatha Christie's series.
A Third Option by 1863
John Wick, Viggo/Avi
This fic really stole my heart and made me fall in love with this pairing and this author, who writes the best Viggo/Avi fics. We get wonderful backstory on these two intriguing characters from the film, including a stab into how Avi has gained Viggo's trust before the events of the film. We especially learn how important loyalty is to Avi, leading him to withstand brutal torture from Viggo's enemies without saying a word. The scene where Viggo finds Avi and looks over his injuries is just so beautifully
written, from the dialogue to Viggo's rage to Viggo examining Avi's hands and Avi grasping them so he won't let go - so tender and fitting. There's also plenty of other instances where Avi looks after Viggo, constantly putting his life and reputation on the
line, and it's easy to see how fond Viggo grows of Avi. Overall, this fic shows how special, genuine and give-and-take their
relationship is and uses this prompt to really serve that relationship.

Who doesn't love domestic Poirot/Hastings; furthermore, who doesn't love Hastings pining after Poirot and Poirot fussing over
Hastings? Eager to get Poirot's mind off a recent, troubling case, Hastings' offer of drawing him a bath ends up with Poirot
giving him one instead, washing his hair and taking care of his Hastings. It's short and sweet and all I can do is squee.
Observations in Endurance by Maimat
Sherlock Holmes [Books], Holmes & Watson
This is a fantastic casefic where Watson is kidnapped, kept in a sewer with rats and nearly drowns right up until the moment
where Sherlock finds him, saves him and nurses him back to health. Watson slowly starting to slip away and lose his mind is
refreshing to go back and re-read, this fic coming from one of the best Sherlock & Watson writers. Sherlocks' tenderness,
friendship and protectiveness toward Watson are on beautiful display here, especially when he helps Watson get clean and tends to his wounds after rescuing him.

John Wick, Viggo/Avi
I never would've thought that washing someone else's hands could be intimate, especially hands that were used minutes before to beat someone to death on the other person's behalf, but boy was I wrong. Every detail of this fic is beautiful right down to Avi admiring the tattoos splayed out across Viggo's skin, emphasizing his power; to drying his boss' hands with a fluffy towel
after washing them clean of blood; to all the little touches and teasing words Viggo utilizes to show his affection for Avi. I love how important Avi clearly is to Viggo in this and how overprotective and giving Viggo is too. I especially love how Avi comes to realize that Viggo speaks quite a few languages, the most important ones involving actions rather than words.

This is such a lovely domestic stuckony fic where Tony is sick and doesn't tell anyone and Steve finds him and both he and
Bucky nurse him back to health in their own ways. What's especially touching is Tony asking Steve to wash his hair and Steve
happy that he can be of some use to him, also shaving Tony as well in his weakened state. It really gets fluffy and bantery when
Bucky shows up, subjecting Tony and Steve to British Bake Off, claiming it's calming and giving me a whole new awesome head canon.
